6 Hours of Detailing
- My first car show appearance.
As my car nears it’s 10th birthday, it additionally shows some wear and tear. At the same time there are improvements I would like to make.
1. The headlights show much wear from the sun and the heat of my engine. They don’t shine like they should. I’ve applied many reliable products, but the gloomy dull appearance returns.
2. My hood has suffered nicks (around 8) to the white paint. I could touch them up I suppose.
3. Most recently my headliner has pulled away from the seal at the top of the windshield. My service fellow at Ford told me to take it to a local place called the Top Shop. I’m thinking hubby Brad could use his mad skills.
4. My bumper shows a slight outward crack from a bolt underneath. It has worsened over the last months and will require body work.
5. I’ve wanted stripes of some sort ever since I can remember.
6. More power. I must be sensible here. More power means more wear and tear, nicks, vibrations, etc. And lets not forget the subject of tires.

DiyYourCar.com is the best. You can a can of black or sometimes white at Lowes/Home depot, Ace hardware strangely enough has colors.
Also the headliner would be a great project, and I’m looking to do the same very shortly!
The hardest part it removing all the trim pieces – and may I suggest some nylon trim tools

– they save your plastic trim from nicks and scratches, and you can leverage the trim off very easily. O’reilly or Autozone might have them as well, but I picked up mine at Harbor Freight.
And one last thing 🙂 … More power.
Try the battery disconnect, ecu reset approach!
It will reset your ECU’s learned habits and allow for use of full power.

… Also you could print a large stencil from Fedex/Kinco’s and spray a Plasti dip decal over that.

Most of what you say is aesthetic, the lights are important and safety. I would say the lights, then the paint, the stripe it up.

I did not think about the safety issue with the lights. That might make it a priority for me. PS I forgot to mention the desire for some new wheels, maybe Cragars!
